Founded in 2008 by Australian designer Kylie Platt, inspired by a love of childhood — play, imagination, and the joy of making things by hand. When she was little, Kylie would sit in her Nana’s back room sewing clothes for her dolls, and learning to knit and crochet. She always loved that feeling of creating something from nothing.
After seeing so many soft toys come and go in her own children’s lives — often poorly made, loved for a moment, and quickly discarded — Kylie set out to create something different.
The name comes from one of Kylie’s favourite nursery rhymes as a child, “Hey Diddle Diddle” — a gentle reminder to laugh, dream, and hold onto the wonder of being little.

Over the years, and the little dog laughed has grown into something Kylie has become proud of — known for its whimsical designs, attention to detail, and pieces made to last. The brand is now stocked in stores across Australia, Japan, South Korea, the UK, Europe, Canada, and the USA.
Created in small batches, ensuring every piece is unique — a forever friend with its own name, personality, and story to tell.
We use natural materials wherever possible and are proud to support Australian farmers by using Australian merino wool for all of our knitted clothing.
Every forever friend begins its life in our Torquay studio, where we design, sew, and bring each character to life before it makes its way to our partners in southern China.
